Smart Filing

The first way that Savvy Folders can organize your documents is in, what we call, "dumb" mode.

In this mode, Savvy Folders will return a data object based on the current date. For instance, if you call the API on December 25th, 2024, it will answer with filing folders for that date. Eg. "documents/2024/12/25"

This mode is perfect if you immediately file your documents when they arrive or if you want to move them to some kind of inbox. Or if you don't care about the date the document was actually created..

In Zapier, look for the action "File from Current Date" in the "Savvy Folders" app.

This mode is:

The smart mode is where Savvy Folders really shines.

In this mode, you send Savvy Folders any document and it will extract the date from the document.

For instance, if you send it an invoice dated December 10th, 2024, but today is December 25th, it will answer with "December 10th, 2024".

This way, you can file your documents at any time. You don't have to worry about when the document was created or added to your Zap.

In Zapier, look for the action "File from Document" in the "Savvy Folders" app.
